SHAKSHUKA - THE REAL ULTIMATE RECIPE

Certainly! Shakshuka is a delicious dish that is popular in Middle Eastern and North African cuisine. Here's a recipe for traditional shakshuka:

Ingredients:

1 onion, diced.

2 garlic cloves, minced.

1 red bell pepper, diced.

2 cans (14.5 oz each) of diced tomatoes

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper, to taste.

6 eggs

Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Add the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and diced red bell pepper to the skillet and continue to sauté until the pepper has softened, about 5-7 more minutes.

Add the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Bring the tomato mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Use a spoon to make 6 small wells in the tomato sauce. Crack an egg into each well.

Cover the skillet and let the eggs cook in the tomato sauce for 5-10 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still runny.

Once the eggs are cooked to your liking, remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chopped parsley or cilantro over the top.

Serve the shakshuka hot with crusty bread or pita and enjoy!
